The First Unit introduces the electronic environment, critical reading, critical writing, critical thinking, and literary forms and terms. During this lesson the students write their first formal essay of about 300 words. The Second Unit introduces research, and at the end of this lesson the students write a proctored Regents' practice essay. The Third and Fourth Units are thematic literary lessons and you, as the instructor, have several options from which to choose for these lessons, which will be explained later. During each of these lessons the students write one essay and should be strongly advised to develop one of these essays for their research project. The Fifth Unit is devoted to the research project.
