Proctored Exams FAQs

ProctorU Questions

  1. You must test in a private, enclosed space (not a computer lab, library, or other public space).
  2. No one is allowed to enter the room in which you are testing for the duration of your exam.
  3. You must test on a Windows PC or Mac that has a working webcam and microphone - Chromebooks are not supported.
  4. You must have the Chrome web browser installed on your computer. Internet Explorer / Edge / Safari / Firefox are not supported. If you do not have Google Chrome, you may find instructions here.
  5. You will be required to install the ProctorU Plugin to Chrome.
  6. You will be required to provide the proctor a 360-degree scan of the room in which you are testing, typically by picking up your laptop and slowly scanning the room.
  7. The proctor will require you to present a valid, government-issued ID (driver’s license, etc.).
  8. You must be testing using a very reliable, high-speed internet connection. Cell phone hotspots are not acceptable. If your connection with ProctorU drops, you are responsible for getting connected back with them to resume your exam. We cannot reconnect you.
  9. You cannot have any other programs running in the background. When asked by the proctor if you can shut down any unauthorized program or process, you must agree.
  10. The proctor is authorized to maintain the integrity of the exam by requesting additional room scans or other steps during your exam if they suspect something with regard to your testing environment has changed. The time to do this will take time away from your exam which cannot be added back.
